FAQ

Are you wondering about something? Here are some answers

Do I have to have sailing experience to join?

We make no demands on the experience of our guests for trips with a skipper on board. The only thing we expect is that you are in reasonably good physical shape, and have a positive attitude.

If you are going to rent a boat and be your own skipper, we require long sailing experience with boats of similar size.

What about meals?

With bareboat rental, meals are not included.

Otherwise, it varies whether meals are included or not. This can be adapted to the individual customer and request. Action can be taken by us in advance for a supplement.

At our ready-made package tours such as “skiing and sailing” and “sailing weekend, meals are included.

Sustainability and animal welfare are important aspects, so most of the meals will include ingredients from local farmers.

We can adapt the menu to any allergies or preferences about vegetarian diets – let us know in good time about this.

Everyone on board contributes to cooking and dishes.

Travel insurance

You must have a valid travel insurance to join the trip, and this should also cover any cancellation of the trip. Read our travel terms for cancellation policy and refund. Otherwise, you are covered by our boat insurance, in the event of an accident on board.

Who and how many are on board?

Bifrost can accommodate 8 guests, in addition to the skipper in its own cabin. Sol é Mar can accommodate 4/5 guests, in addition to the skipper.

Until the pandemic is over, we only accept cohort groups or families who have been vaccinated or tested negative in advance.

What is included?

Life jackets, bed linen, towels and cleaning are included in all our trips and rentals.

For ready package tours, skipper/guide and meals are included.

For sailing courses, course certificates, meals and sailing manual are included.

What do I have to bring?

See our package list here. Otherwise, we ask that you do not bring a trolley case on board, but packs in soft bags that can be stored in cabinets and shelves. Pack sensibly and no more than you need. You can leave the fine dresses at home 🙂

Does it get cold in the winter?

In the winter, we use Bifrost, which is equipped with a webasto heating system in all cabins and bathrooms. As one of our guests once exclaimed: “There are even heating cables in the toilet seat!”.

No, we probably do not really have that much luxury, but it can certainly feel like that when the hot air aims stright at the bowl: D

The bathrooms are heated, and can be used to hang wet ski clothes. In addition, we have a drying room above the engine where you can put damp clothes.

Safety

We are both concerned that it should be safe to sail with us, and take safety very seriously.

To increase our competence in safety, we did some volunteer work at the rescue boats in Trondheim. Here we received many useful courses, including communication, safety management and accident management at sea. Here at home, we have participated as a volunteer crew with Anna Rogde, with passenger and crisis management courses and taken the necessary safety courses and certificates for Halvard (IMO50, D5L). The boats are equipped with the necessary safety equipment, and we regularly review and upgrade fire protection and routines in the event of accidents on board.

Our best trips.

After many great adventures in the southern latitudes, we have finally found peace here in the north and realized we live in the middle of the world's most beautiful archipelago. Here we want to be able to continue sailing, as well as create an offer for both locals and visitors who want to experience the northern pearls of northern Norway.

Combine the sailing trip with a mountain hike, paddling or just pure recreation in our beautiful archipelago - this is where you will find the real and undisturbed surroundings!

Fantastic experience

My wife and I were on a sailing course with Seil Bifrost last weekend. This was a course that was both inspiring and that gave more taste for sailing. The course itself was set up in a good way with briefing / theory before we started sailing. Skipper Halvard has a calm and educational way of guiding us around, and he was good at taking the scary thing out of sailing a boat like Bifrost. We sailed in the local area around Harstad, and it is fantastic to see how nice an archipelago we have here in the area. The actual booking process and communication prior to the course went terrific. This was a fantastic weekend for both of us who have definitely kickstarted the dream of getting our own sailboat.

so much more than we could ever have wished for!

"This was such an amazing adventure. This trip was so much more than we could ever have wished for! I am overwhelmed by the beauty of the landscape and the hospitality of our hosts Halvard and Ann Helen. We sailed between the islands surrounded by the white mountainpeaks And to make it all compleet, We got to see the magical northern lights! And we were very happy with the comfort of our accommodation! I would love to go back again. Thank you very much!"

Strongly reccomended.

Fantastic trip with Bifrost. The boat is easy to learn and nice to handle, well equipped and very comfortable for our 2 families (8 pers). Very nice and serious landlords who ensured good standards and hygiene - as well as a thorough review (safety first) before departure. Highly recommended.

Thumbs up!

We were 4 couples who rented Bifrost from Halvard and Ann-Helen for a 10-day sailing trip around Lofoten. The trip and the nature were exceptional and the boat was a dream to both sail and live in. The boat is well equipped with all safety equipment, good sails and a lot of useful equipment. Everything you need for a good experience is taken care of.
We want to praise Ann-Helen for good communication and organization ahead of the trip. Halvard sailed the boat into Harstad for us and had a thorough review of the boat and the technical, gave us some tips and hints and was on the whole very welcoming. This is a helproft and serious couple that we are more than happy to rent a boat from again.

Thumbs up from us.

Dream weekend for the whole family

Weekend trip with the family under the auspices of Bifrost and Arctic sea to summit can really be recommended.
Bifrost is an excellent base for dealing with everything the archipelago outside Harstad has to offer.
Skipper Hallvards quickly made sure to get everyone involved in setting the mainsail and maneuvering the boat.
Good local knowledge ensured that we ended up in the best places, both for day activities and to find peace for the night.
Bifrost is well equipped with everything you need for both food preparation and comfortable accommodation.
This combined with good weather, many organized activities under the auspices of activity guide Christian, made sure that this really became a dream weekend for the whole family.????
This can really be recommended for everyone else who wants an activity-filled weekend as well as an introduction to sailing life.
We will be happy to return!
